I used an HP 4050N for years as my major printer and a HUGE HP4700 color laser at work. The Xerox Phaser 6500DN is smaller than the HP shade and does a greater job. It has a built-in duplex unit that allows two sided printing of PDF files (Word would not have this feature). The printer routinely goes into standby unless you need it and speedy turns on to start printing. It's extremely fast at higher than 20 web pages per minute or about three seconds per web page.
The printer is beautiful compact. I unpacked the box and eliminated the protecting tape that's certainly marked in more than a few locations. I never even learn the guide. I do no longer have a network connection the place the printer is positioned, so I plugged in an Apple Airport Extreme that joins wirelessly to my Airport base station and ran a standard network cable from the Airport Extreme to the Printer's ethernet port. I arrange the printer device the use of the supplied DVD (although I'm no longer even sure this is wanted on my Macs), grew to become on the printer and started printing. The printer may have been linked with the USB 2.0 cable to the Airport Extreme, and that might in fact have been easier.
I failed to upgrade the memory and it seems to work simply fantastic with large jobs. It grasps 250 sheets in the usual configuration, and a tray option allows much extra if you want it.
The print output is gorgeous, even on regular replica paper. I haven't used photograph quality paper, however judging from the seem to be of images printed, I would presumably now not want my Epson high-end photographgraphic printer for most jobs.
This is a good printer.
